On September 23, 2026, SMARTGEN signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with SONG PHUONG MT at SMARTGEN's office in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, covering POEN ESS supply, technical support and cooperation on energy projects.
The signing ceremony was attended by SMARTGEN CEO Lee Segwang and SONG PHUONG MT CEO Lê Tiết Trung Tín. The two representatives signed the MOU and discussed how to jointly pursue projects in Vietnam's solar and ESS market.
Under the agreement, the two companies will jointly develop energy projects in Vietnam, including solar power, ESS/BESS and integrated energy solutions, and will cooperate from design and installation through commissioning, operation and maintenance. SMARTGEN will supply POEN ESS and provide technical support, while SONG PHUONG MT, as the local EPC partner, will develop projects and handle construction.
Going forward, the two companies will define the scope of their cooperation through actual projects and extend applications to solar-plus-ESS, peak shaving, backup power and energy management. As electricity demand in Vietnam keeps growing and power costs weigh more heavily on customers, interest in self-consumption solar combined with energy storage is rising, and Vietnam's Power Development Plan VIII also sets out the expansion of energy storage as a key direction. In line with this trend, the two companies will actively pursue solar and ESS project opportunities for residential, commercial and industrial customers.
Through this MOU, SMARTGEN will connect a reliable POEN ESS supply and technical support system with local EPC partners, and continue to build a cooperation framework in Vietnam that carries ESS/BESS projects from initial development through to actual construction. Together with capable local partners, SMARTGEN will help customers in Vietnam access more reliable energy at a more reasonable cost.
