IEA Global Energy Review 2026 says battery storage is the fastest-growing power technology, with 108 GW added in 2025 and LFP accounting for about 90% of deployments.

According to IEA, the world deployed 108 GW of new battery storage capacity in 2025, 40% more than in 2024. Cumulative installed capacity is now eleven times higher than in 2021.
IEA also says lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) batteries account for about 90% of battery-storage deployments worldwide. The page describes LFP as well suited to frequent charge-discharge cycles in many systems.
