On 01 July 2026, IEA published the analysis page Technology: Battery storage – Global Energy Review 2026. The page focuses on battery storage as part of the Global Energy Review 2026 analysis.

According to IEA, the world deployed 108 GW of new battery storage capacity in 2025, 40% more than in 2024. Cumulative installed capacity is now eleven times higher than in 2021.

IEA also says lithium-iron phosphate (LFP) batteries account for about 90% of battery-storage deployments worldwide. The page describes LFP as well suited to frequent charge-discharge cycles in many systems.
