According to VnExpress, the price adjustment by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Finance took effect at 15:00 on 17 September 2026. E10 RON 95-III petrol increased by VND 1,400 per litre to VND 25,630, while E5 RON 92 rose by VND 1,390 per litre to VND 25,130. The adjusted diesel price was VND 29,940 per litre, and fuel oil was VND 19,190 per kilogram.

The authorities stopped collecting contributions to the fuel price stabilisation fund for petrol and oil products in this adjustment. The ministries said global energy markets were affected by reports of escalating conflict between Houthi forces and Saudi Arabia in the Middle East, alongside an interest rate increase by the US Federal Reserve.

The global price of RON 95 used to blend E10 RON 95 rose 10.6% from the previous pricing period to USD 146.2 per barrel. Diesel increased 13.4% to USD 182.6 per barrel, while fuel oil reached USD 696.4 per tonne. The article reports that, following the adjustment, domestic fuel prices were at their highest since early April and approximately 28–41% above their July lows, depending on the product.
