IEA’s Renewables 2024 says governments agreed to work toward tripling installed renewable capacity by 2030 and highlights barriers that still slow deployment.
On 9 October 2024, the International Energy Agency (IEA) released Renewables 2024, its annual market report with forecasts through 2030.
According to IEA, governments at COP28 agreed to work together toward tripling the world’s installed renewable capacity by 2030. The report also stresses country-level progress tracking and the need to remove deployment bottlenecks.
The analysis reviews policy trends, solar PV and wind manufacturing developments, technology costs, system integration challenges and grid-connection queues.
This edition also includes a dedicated chapter on renewable fuels (bioenergy, biogases, hydrogen and e-fuels) and their expected role in energy demand by 2030.
