The article Samsung Vietnam takes 28MWp rooftop solar system into operation on Vietnam Investment Review (VIR) says Samsung Electronics HCMC CE Complex (SEHC) has put a 28MWp rooftop solar power system into operation at its factory roofs in Saigon Hi-tech Park.

The project reportedly uses about 45,000 solar panels and advanced equipment meeting international standards. VIR also says this is the first rooftop solar project in Vietnam to operate under the country’s direct power purchase agreement (DPPA) with a dedicated transmission line.

According to the article, the system is expected to generate more than 40,000 MWh of clean electricity per year and reduce more than 26,000 metric tonnes of CO2 annually.

The report adds that the project was completed with support from government agencies, local authorities, the electricity sector, and partners including TotalEnergies ENEOS and IPC E&C. It also notes that Samsung’s other subsidiaries in Vietnam have expanded renewable-energy use, including Samsung Electronics Vietnam in Bac Ninh and the first DPPA operations through the national grid by SEVT and TTC Duc Hue 2 from June 1.
