On 18 May 2026, Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) published an article titled ‘Rooftop solar moves from a bill-saving solution to a growth trend’ in its energy-saving and efficient-use section.
The article says rooftop solar is increasingly viewed as a practical way to reduce electricity costs, improve control over electricity use, cut emissions, and gradually build greener energy habits among businesses and households.
MOIT, citing Ninh Binh Power Company, says rooftop solar development is now considered an important solution for strengthening energy security, easing pressure on the grid during peak hours, and encouraging the use of clean, green, and sustainable energy in the province.
The article states that by the end of April 2026, Ninh Binh Province had 1,224 rooftop solar customers with a total installed capacity of more than 92.95 MWp. MOIT also notes that industrial customers with heavy daytime loads are among the groups that can benefit more clearly from this model.
